If your SIM is missing, damaged, or not working, you can quickly replace it using MTN’s Self-Service SIM Swap, fast, easy, and no queues.
Just follow the steps below to complete the process yourself.
✅ Before You Begin
Please get a blank (unregistered) MTN SIM card from any MTN Service Centre, Connect Store, or Authorized Shop.
Once you have it,
1️⃣ Open the MyMTN App on your phone.
2️⃣ Tap More (bottom right corner).
3️⃣ Select Self Service.
4️⃣ Tap Self-Service to start the SIM swap process.
5️⃣ Choose one of the options:
- For Self – if you are swapping your own number
- For Others – if you are swapping for someone else
6️⃣ Enter the phone number you want to swap.
7️⃣ Scan the SIM serial barcode using your camera or enter it manually.
8️⃣ Tap Submit Request.
9️⃣ Accept the privacy policy and proceed with verification.
🔟 Tap Next to begin facial verification 📷.
During this step:
- The system will capture your face for verification.
- Your image will be checked against the NIA database.
✅ After successful verification:
- Tap Submit Request to complete the process.
- Select Done to finish.
📩 You will receive two SMS messages:
- One confirming that your request has been received
- Another confirming that your SIM swap was successful
⚠️ If the face verification fails, you will be directed to the MTN e-Request portal for further assistance.

You can pick up your SIM card at any approved MTN SIM pick-up location.

⚠️ Who Can Use This Service?
This service is available ONLY for Prepaid customers.
🚫 The following numbers cannot use Self-Service SIM Swap:
- Pay Monthly customers
- PAYG Corporate registered numbers
- MoMo Agents
- MoMo Merchants
- Numbers that are blocked or suspended
