How to Stop People from Adding You to Random WhatsApp Groups
Protect yourself from being added to unknown groups, spam, or scams by setting up your group privacy settings on WhatsApp.
✅ Here’s how to do it:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the three dots at the top right corner.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Account.
- Tap Privacy.
- Tap Groups.
- Choose your preferred setting:
- Everyone: Anyone with your number can add you to groups (not recommended for security).
- My Contacts: Only people saved in your contact list can add you.
- My Contacts Except…: You can exclude specific contacts from adding you to groups. This gives you the most control.
🚨 Why is this Important?
Scammers and hackers sometimes add people to random groups to send malicious links or phishing messages. Adjusting your group privacy settings helps protect you from:
- Being targeted by scams
- Receiving spam messages
- Exposing your number to unknown people
💡 Extra Security Tip
✅ Review your group settings regularly.
✅ Never click suspicious links shared in groups you do not trust.
