Do your relative, friend, or someone you support needs help replacing their SIM, you can complete the SIM Swap on their behalf using MTN’s Self-Service SIM Swap option.
Follow the steps below to get started.
✅ Before You Begin
Ask the person to buy a blank (unregistered) MTN SIM card from any MTN Service Centre, Connect Store, or Authorized Shop.
They should share the new SIM serial number with you so it can be linked to their number.
📲 How to Complete a SIM Swap for Someone Else
- Dial *1333# on your phone
- Select “SIM Swap”
- Choose Option 2 – SIM Swap for Others
- Enter the person’s phone number twice to confirm
- A secure link will be sent to your number (the requester)
- Tap the link in the SMS to open the SIM Swap Portal
- Enter the OTP (One-Time Password) sent to your number
- Enter the new SIM serial number
- Select the reason for the SIM swap
- Complete face verification using your phone’s camera
- Your details will be validated with the National Identification Authority (NIA)
- You’ll receive an SMS confirmation once the SIM swap is successful
The new SIM will then become active.
